Changing Your Belief System: A Path to Transformation

Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s post. Today, I promise to challenge and change your belief system. If you’ve clicked on this blog, I urge you to read it till the end. By the time you finish reading, your current belief system will undergo a complete transformation.

Can We Really Change Our Belief System?

Some people believe that changing one’s belief system is a Herculean task. However, it's not as challenging as you might think. While it might be difficult to change habits, like quitting smoking at the age of 40, changing beliefs is possible and relatively quick. Our beliefs are often deeply ingrained from childhood, influenced by our family, school, and the media.

The Foundation of Our Beliefs

Let’s take a trip down memory lane to the late 1990s and early 2000s. Our childhood beliefs were largely shaped by our interactions with family, friends, teachers, and TV shows. We absorbed these beliefs without questioning them. For instance, we were often told that “money doesn’t grow on trees” or that “money is the root of all problems.” These childhood beliefs, whether true or not, shape our worldview and behavior.

The Power of Belief

The good news is that beliefs can be changed. You can upgrade your beliefs to replace the old ones. As Lord Krishna said in the Bhagavad Gita, “Develop a higher taste to discard the lower one.” Just like upgrading from a Honda to a BMW, and then to a Mercedes, beliefs can also be elevated.

Historical Examples

Historical figures like Plato, Leonardo da Vinci, Pablo Picasso, and the Wright Brothers had strong beliefs in their ideas and visions. For instance, the Wright Brothers firmly believed that they would fly a plane. Charles Babbage had the idea for a computer, which eventually led to the development of laptops and supercomputers.

The Role of Mindset

Henry Ford, despite not being highly educated, believed in making an 8-cylinder engine. He famously said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't—you're right.” Our beliefs are more about mindset than physical capability. They are shaped by our thoughts, environment, and the information we consume.

The Power of First Principle Thinking

Elon Musk often emphasizes the importance of first principle thinking. Instead of accepting things at face value, question them. For example, why is this device called a microphone and not a cylinder? Our beliefs can be altered by critically thinking and questioning the world around us.

The Role of Motivation

David Goggins, often regarded as the toughest man alive, emphasizes that your belief system is based on what drives you. Whether it’s a passion or love for your work, motivation plays a crucial role in shaping your beliefs.

A Practical Exercise to Change Your Belief System

To change your belief system, you need to expose the lies you tell yourself. Take 2-3 sheets of A4 paper and write down the lies you’ve accepted about yourself. For example, “I can never become the best communicator in my industry.” After writing down these lies, leave a few lines and then write down the truth. For instance, “Achieving 1 million subscribers is possible with hard work and the right strategy.”

I did this exercise and wrote down at least 70 lies. This exercise was a turning point in my life, and I believe it can be for you too.

Conclusion

Changing your belief system is crucial for personal growth and success. Avoid negative people and surround yourself with those who motivate and inspire you. Remember, you have the power to change your beliefs, and with the right mindset and motivation, anything is possible.
